My dog's problem with barking is quite different. She only barks when I'm home and in response to noises outside of my apartment. (I have it on good authority from my neighbor who works from home that she is quiet from 9-5, daily). What can be done to stop the "protective" type of barking?

Thanks,
sharon

We have a dog that barked quite a lot. Once I decerned he was barking for attention (which worked well for him for a while) I ignored him, would not look at him, speak to him, nothing. Eventually he figured out we caught on to him and quieted down. It was hard to do but it paid off.
